The "Corner Former" does not require rolling before use. Simply apply tape and drywall compound to the corner, and press the ends of the tape into place. Start the "Corner Former" 18 inches from the bottom end of the tape and wipe downward. This will set the tape to the wall so the tape will not slide up as you complete the upward stroke. Now, wipe upward the full length of the corner to the ceiling with one smooth stroke. The quantity of drywall compound must be controlled to prevent overspill around the sides of the cups. The "Corner Former" wipes the tape and wall with a plowing action that carries mud out from under the tape, and mixes and spreads compound over the top of the tape. The tape is pulled forward and outward as the "Corner Former" passes, keeping the tape tight and flat in the corner. Second Coat As the compound dries it always shrinks. A second coat is required to create a final finish. Either wipe an adequate amount of compound into the corner to be spread or use a professional "mud-box" and apply the second coat. If the first and second coats are done properly, no sanding is required.
Note the position of the "Ball-Neck Handle Angle". It should always point toward the wall. Rotate the handle as the "Corner Former" is pushed up the wall. This is necessary to keep the ball from being pried out of the pivot socket.
Application Hints The drywall compound must be applied to the under side to the tape. The "Corner Former" squeezes it out and then spreads it over the top of the tape. The compound can first be wiped onto the wall and then the tape pressed over it or it can be applied by holding the end of the tape down into the bucket of compound with one hand and then pulling the tape through the bucket with the other hand thus spreading the compound over one side of the tape (see figure).
